Tixkets for Revenge Of The Sith

Post by Petrapraise » Mon May 16, 2005 6:38 am

I got my tickets for 12:01 AM Wednesday morning to Star Wars this week. I've been excited about this one for awhile. Anyone else going to see this opening day/week.

Gotta say, I hope they continue the series with episodes 7-9. I coud hardly bear to have both Petra and Star Wars gone from producing.

:(

I'm too busy until Sunday the 22nd

My sister's and their husbands and My wife and me are going to see it 5pm Sunday!

I am very excited.

Episodes 7-9?

If they do that I thought I heard that Lucas' son would direct, is that true?

Also what story would they use? The Timothy Zahn trilogy, another author, or will Lucas pen the new story?

Wars

Post by Michael » Mon May 16, 2005 7:35 am

Cat and I plan to go preview it at a matinee on Friday during the day. I think Mikey is pretty excited about it, but we want to make sure the violence isn't too much for him... or at least be able to cover his eyes during the truly gruesome parts.

I read an article this weekend where George Lucas expressed his reasons why he would hesitate to take a little kid... besides the violence, there is also the fact that in this movie, the daddy turns evil and the mommy dies. Now THAT could be upsetting to a child. I appreciated that rare parenting insight from a filmmaker.

Plans are in the works for two TV series, one live-action and one animated, based on the period between episodes III and IV. I think the idea is that they won't really involve known characters from the movies, but they will be in the same universe.

Two Star Wars TV shows have been confirmed by Lucas. One will be live action and one will be animated, possible similar to Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes. Both shows will most likely focus on lesser know characters throughout the movies.

Yep, I was gonna say all that too, but you guys beat me to it.

No episodes 7-9. Ever! Lucas says he never meant for there to be 9 episodes. We all know though that he says that now because he changed his mind. I've watched and read old 80's interviews with Uncle George that stated it was a nine part story. Not the case now.

The live action TV show should be interesting. I just hope that while using lesser know characters (as the reports say none of the main ones will be involved) will still feel like Star Wars. Just as long as it doesn't feel like Star Trek.

As I type this I am surrounded in my office by Shelves and shelves of Star Wars memorbilia. I have collected this stuff for years now. I have tickets to be one of the first to see it! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!

7-9

Post by Michael » Tue May 17, 2005 8:03 am

I figure that he decided not to do 7-9 because at this point, that story has been told already in detail in novels (did you guys know that Leia and Han Solo get married and have several children, one named Anakin, and Luke starts his own School for Jedi?) I'll bet the original concept was the story from the Jedi "golden age" to the fall of the Jedi order due to Palpatine and Darth Vader, and back to the Jedi rising from the ashes at Luke and Leia's hands. The issue here is the "balance" they keep harping about in the movies... how could Anakin bring "balance to the force" by wiping out every Jedi except two (that we know of)? Through his CHILDREN. Darth Vader wipes out the complacent, self-blinded old Jedi order (the Sith has been gaining in strength for centuries before Episode 1 but the Jedi Council has blinded themselves to it until they are no longer able to see what is happening) and fathers a brand new Jedi order.

Yeah, I've read most of the books. The problem is that even though they are a great read, and they continue the story, they are not cannon with the films. I mean there was a whole other back story for Boba Fett until that is Episode II came along and gave the real one.

There are many things like that. They also brought Bona Fett back. George says he died in ROTJ but not according to the writers of the expanded universe. He somehow escaped the Sarlacc Pit. So they are approved by Lucas but not written by him. George reserves the right to change anything thats in those books because basically they are just glorified fan fiction. But great fan fiction it is!!! Especially Timothy Zahn's books. He so captured the essence of Starwars in a book.

I am glad though that the books aren't cannon, cause they killed Chewie!!!!

The Zahn books are my favorite too. I wouldn't mind seeing those in film - though I guess we won't

Who is supposed to direct the live action TV series and when is it supposed to debut?

I wonder what the story line will be?

Star Wars novels

Post by Michael » Tue May 17, 2005 12:12 pm

I just read Shatterpoint (about Mace Windu, takes place during the Clone Wars) not too long ago, and I finished listening to the audio version of Labyrinth of Evil last week (prequel to the novelization of Episode III, ends with the events from the opening crawl of the movie), and they both ROCKED! Although the detailed descriptions of the battles in LOE lost me sometimes... I'm not that big on military strategy sort of stuff.

George Lucas is a SMART marketer. I do wish he had kept a tight rein on the plots of the novelizations, though... it would be really fun to have a "real" universe that was internally consistent. Alas, that is not "smart" marketing... from his viewpoint, I suppose that would have been a waste of time.

Actually theres a possibility of Episodes 7-9, but Lucas Said this movie would have to at least no. 1 for 2005 and be huge money maker ($400m) to be able to do 7-9 in the next 10 years.

Really? Where did he say that? Cause everytime it's been brought up in the last 5 years that I've seen, he catagorically denies that he ever meant it to be a nine part story. Totally going back on all those interviews in the early eighties. He has said he's done with Starwars Movies and that he now want's to make smaller films that nobody would probably want to see. That is as soon as he and Spielberg do Indiana Jones 4.

The Tv series according to theforce.net will come out end of next year. It will have multiple directors. One of which is rumored to be Kevin Smith.
