We heard the title track on PowerFM in Dallas this past weekend. It was kind of puzzling... the vocals sounded like a well-rehearsed garage band. Not Stryperish harmonies at all. It was like a poor attempt at singing unison on the chorus. I barely get Cat to leave the radio on so I could hear the whole thing.

The Album is great. It is not the Stryper of old though. I think many old die hard fans will be disappointed. Reborn is not the best song off the album, so go and get it I don't think you will be disappointed.

My copy arrived in the mail yesterday!

It is a good cd, though not as melodic as their old stuff, and no guitar solos

I finally saw "Some Kind of Monster" the Mettalica movie. In it there was a discussion about solos. Lars wanted to move away from them, because that seems to be the trend in hard music lately. They finally agreed to do solos where it would make the song better, but not to do a solo "just because".

I wish Stryper had done a few solos. Like in the last track.

I have only one full listen under my belt - but all in all it's good!

I most admit.. I didn't like this new album....

I know they can't do the same "gam" music they did befre... but I don't know... I found this record.... "weak"....

But... well.... That's my humble opinion....

nah, forget everything you know about Stryper and just listen. It's a pretty solid record for what it is. Sure there are some things to be disappointed about, but there are plenty of good things. There are some really cool, fun tracks to listen to, and some cool guitar stuff. There are some decent harmonies throughout. One of the songs has some stuff in it that reminds me of the early Stryper stuff. Rober Sweet's drumming is pretty cool on this one also. The next record will be better only because the other guys will be involved from the beginning as far as arrangements for the songs, drum grooves, solos, harmonies, etc.
Some of the tunes, especially because of Robert's drumming, remind of the In God We Trust days. This was originally going to be a Michael Sweet solo record before the band got back together. I had the thought that if it had been released as a solo album, some of the songs would have been labeled as a step back, or a throwback when compared to previous Michael Sweet solo stuff.

I think also, Big 3 records came along late in the game. Their attitude was probably along the lines of: it's Stryper they have an album ready to go, we'll take it. Had their influence and money been involved from the beginning, the album might have enough of a better sound to totally blow everyone away.

GMAN you have a good assesment of the situation; Everybody make sure you listen to it a number of times before you put it to the side. It doesn't catch you at first but it grows on you and you will find yourself singing these songs all day long. It is better today than it was the day before and the day before that.

Totally Agree! Songs I wasn't sure about at first are now the ones I want to listen to most. It's just amzing that after all these years, the guys are even back together and going out on tour. As long as Big 3 Records sticks with them, they could easily do very well. I'm optimistic to think that they could even move beyond just playing clubs to playing bigger venues. Maybe not arenas, but if Bon Jovi can still play stadiums and arenas, Stryper can at least do something a little smaller.
