Heaviest/most extreme band you listen to

So yes, it all started with Petra with me many years ago. But over the years my tastes have been enhanced (not just changed). I still love Petra, but I'm now into power metal, thrash metal, "un"black and death metal. The most extreme band I listen to is Crimson Moonlight (they're Christian black metal aka unblack metal). I'm also really into Deliverance, Mortification, Tourniquet, and Vengeance Rising. How 'bout you guys?

Skip James and Charley Patton are pretty extreme-in a totally different way of course.

ZoeGirl ROCKS!
I am really into Disciple's latest cd (

I never could get into "screaming", otherwise I think I would like a lot of the bands out there - I am very picky about vocals.
I do like Project 86, and Gretchen (

Probably the heaviest I listen to is Tourniquet. I like really heavy music as long as it's melodic and I like screaming as long as it doesn't hurt my throat to listen to it....if that makes sense.

I grew up an 80's metalhead, while at the same time playing classical, big band, and swing music on flute. I like just about anything except rap, hip hop, and today's pop music! I even have been to a few operas in my time. Though my preferences today are mostly Christian rock/alternative and 70's progressive rock, I still listen to a lot of really heavy secular stuff and weird 80's stuff I grew up on, more because of the memories it brings than the content of the songs...
So would you find it weird that in the past 6 months, John has gotten me tickets to see both the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and the band Anthrax?

Big band swing on flute? That is extreme.

I have played flute in the Peru Indiana Circus City Festival Band for 20+ years, and our specialties cover many styles, from pop to classical, our best being the big band/swing stuff. Yes, we really do provide music for the Peru Circus, 11 3-hour shows each summer, as well as concerts during the year...

I love King's X, Tourniquet, and One Bad Pig. I also like Metallica, Nirvana, and a few other non-genre bands.
I've also recently been enjoying Switchfood and Relient K (not very heavy at all).

Rock on!!! What were some of the songs you played?
In high school I did a West Side Story show and a Riverdance show. Those were fun fun. So far in college I've played stuff by Grand Funk Railroad, Michael Jackson (Thriller), Lynyrd Skynyrd, Styx, and Ray Charles, among other tunes.

LOL You expect me to remember that far back??
OK, some of the themes we did (remember, this was the 80's):
-Broadway tunes
-Beatles
-Elvis
-Barry Manilow
-Heroes theme songs (Rocky, Superman, the A-Team, Greatest American Hero, etc LOL)
-The Muppet show
-Duran Duran
-Michael Jackson
-Janet Jackson (these songs had great arrangements!)
-Madonna
-Classic rock (Bob Seger, The Eagles, Queen)
We weren't a competing band or anything, so our shows were nothing great...
The variety I get to play in circus band is absolutely incredible. We play for circus shows that are 3 hours long, so you can imagine the amount of music we cover...
I love music in general, and love to play as much as I love to listen.
The Anthrax concert John and I are going to is tomorrow. That is definitely at one extreme end of my listening tastes!!!
