Safely Through Surgery

Elijah's operation on Monday went reasonably well. He coped well with the pain, which was terrible for a 3 year old. He's the same happy kid he was before, with the exception that he occasionally has painful bladder spasms and sometimes the painkillers wear a little thin.

Yesterday he was walking, albeit a little bowlegged, and after I left I'm told he was dancing to music at grandma and grandpa's house. I had to go home to Fargo so I could work today, and mom and our two boys stayed in Minneapolis with the in-laws because caring for Eli is a group effort right now.

There's a stent that'll be removed after 7 days and if all goes well a superpubic catheter that'll be removed after 8-10 days. Now it's just a matter of guarding against infection, medicating against pain and swelling, and hoping that the operation was fully successful.

Thank you for your prayers and kind words.

I'm glad everything went well, surgery isn't pleasant. Kids are tough though.
