BEER SPONSOR?
BEER SPONSOR?
I noticed that Stryper concert is sponsored by Budwiser. I was kind of surpirsed! How do feel about this?

dont think that is good. I just got back from my highschool reunion, I left early, cause everyone was drinking, and I was not having a fun time. one of my freinds that grew up in my church, ( dont think she goes to church anymore) came totally snockerred, please keep her in your prayers, that she gets to know the lord again, and can stop drinking.
only about 3 or 4 of us were not drinking. I myself cant stand the smell of alchole, Don't think I will go next time.

I don't see why they can't have a sponsor. I don't see why it should be surprising, or particularly noteworthy.
If I were going to get into it, I would think 'good for them'-bucking yet another legalistic trend-one which has nothing to do with authentic christianity and is right up there with 'no dancing' in the 'heavy burdens on other peoples backs' department.
I would not think stryper would be all that keen to adhere to the blue laws anyway, since their advocates used them to condemn all those guys back in the day.

These guys play in secular clubs; someone has to pay for it and the church isn't gonna sponsor them. They reach people who otherwise wouldn't go to a Christian concert or hear about Jesus. Stryper's never tried to hide the fact that they want to make money. I don't condone it, but it doesn't bother me as much as how CCM tries to hide their sin and cut throat behavior behind a Christian label.

Well, as long as God is using Budweiser to help Stryper deliver their gospel message.

Hmm, I'm no legalist and I see nothing wrong with light to moderate drinking, but I'm having a hard time seeing how this would be a good thing. Abuse of alcohol is a real problem, and the "beer culture" doesn't seem to fit all that well with the Gospel IMHO. Could be a stumbling block to some skeptics.

Actually Bud is NOT sponsering Stryper or Stryper's Tour. Bud is a sponser of one of the venues Stryper was playing in and I believe that it was an ad put on the back of the tickets for that certain show.

An Artist has no say so about who sponsers a venue or what ads are used on the back of the tickets. I know in the mid 80's through early 90's when Petra would play Houston they would play at the Sam Houston Arena and on the back of the tickets there was always a Coors Light ad and also on the box office marque.
