iTunes help?

I just downloaded iTunes and I can't get it to recogonize all the albums on my HD. It only recogonizes 6 of Petra's albums but songs from other albums show up in idfferent places. I want an Ipod someday and thought I'd download itunes to get used to it since you have to use it with the ipod but I'm confused. Any familiar with how to fix this or what criteria they use?
