Musically, In God We Trust is slightly less intense than the previous album - the guitar is more in the "background." But that's okay becuase I think the guitars on this album are just as good. Not sure which album I like better - this one or the previous. This album really shows off the band's songwriting skills. Half of the songs even have key changes at the end. I Believe in You is a beautiful ballad with strings and a key change at the last chorus. Songs 2, 3, 7, and 8 have vocal harmonies that are just glorious. Not to mention really cool key changes. Songs 1, 5, and 10 are really fast and exciting. (The Reign kinda sounds like country/bluegrass - the guitar solo makes me wanna say "yeehaw!") Lonely is my least favorite song, but it's still very good. It sounds ahead of it's time - more like a 90's ballad than an 80's ballad, actually.
Gosh, this is a hard, hard choice for har har's voice. But my vote's gonna go to Always There for You. (Another 2nd-track favorite, oh my gosh.)

I like all the songs on In God We Trust, but, I voted for Always There For You. That song just "gets to me", especially the line "When the world has closed the door and you can't go on anymore, I'm always there for you."
"Love will last forever without any doubt"

Oh man, that's a penetrating verse. I love it too.
I also love the lyric "We can have what everybody dreams about" in the 7th song.

Yeah- that one, too.
What did you think of Michael Sweet's more "acoustic" version of
Always There For You on his second solo CD
Real? I liked it- Not as much as the original, but, I liked it.

Never heard it. I don't think acoustic versions of Stryper songs would sound as good, however. Electric guitar is really what defined their sound to my opinion.
