Some Good News!

Post by js3971 » Fri Feb 17, 2006 9:45 am

According to Scripture in I John, God is Love. We are told several things about who love is and what love is in I Corinthians 13. One of the things God-Love does is always believes the best.

Did you know that God believes the best about you, yesterday, today, and forever? Nothing can separate you from his love, and absolutely nothing can separate you from Him thinking the best about you.

Think the best about yourselves today because God does!

Amen brother! That is very profound; I'll be honest and say I've never looked at it that way.

I will try to post more things like this on this thread.

But this post will go with the first one.

If God loves us like that and thinks the best about us like that, which is clearly good news, how can we think anything but the best about anyone else?

This is only a portion of the good news we should be sharing with people: our families, our children, our spouses, our coworkers, our bosses, our neighbors, our friends, our enemies, our parents, and the list could go on and on...

Let someone else know that God thinks the best about them. But they won't fully experience it if you don't think the best about them.

To love anyone less than how God loves them (including ourselves) is actually hate. And to hate someone is the same as killing them, according to Scripture.

I also believe it's extremely important for us to love others. But isn't it impossible for us as human beings to have the capacity to love as much as God does? I've heard it said that we cannot fathom how much God loves us.

I don't know if we'll totally understand his complete love for us ever, but that's mainly because we don't open ourselves fully to his love.

When Jesus tells us that God so loved the world...He uses the greek word agapeo, meaning the God kind of love. In I John, when it's said God is love...again it's the greek word agapeo.

When Jesus tells us to love God with our hearts, mind, soul, strenght, he uses the same word. Then when he tells us to love our neighbors as oursleves, he again uses the same word.

Jesus isn't going to tell us to do something that is impossible. When he tells us to do something, at the same time, he's actually giving us the power to do what he's telling us to do (kind of like a prescriptive authority). So, yes, according to Scripture, it's possible.

But Scripture also says that he who is forgiven much, loves (agapeo) much. Mary Magdalene knew God's love for her, and she knew how to love him, because she had been forgiven much.
