GMT

GMT means Greenwich Mean Time... it's the standard time that the rest of the world sets their clocks by. I think it's basically the time in London or something. Central time is usually GMT-6, but GMT-5 worked for me... so I would thing Eastern would be GMT-4. Just set it to something and go to the board main page and find where it shows the time and see if it's correct by your watch... if it isn't, change it in your profile and try it again. :)

I think I fixed it

We'll try and talk some smart people into visiting... although I don't know if any of them would want to associate with us.

Sorry, I'm not one of the smart people you're looking for but I'd like to hang around here anyway.

Same here, I am Central time and usually have to put in -6 GMT. I used -5 GM as well and it came up with the proper time.

You can set your time zone in your Profile settings, by the way.

Is there a way to have a personal icon on the left by your name like on the other board?

Avatars

Those are called "Avatars"... see this page for an example of what I think you mean. My avatar on that page is:

Image

That capability is available (obvioiusly!) in phpBB, but Micah hasn't activated it for whatever reason. I emailed him about it this morning. By default:
Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB.
I kind of hope he leaves the 80x80 limit there; we did have a few episodes on ezboard of people posting ridiculously large pictures in that area and messing up the board layout.
