Stryper Church Accoustic Tour

I went to the Stryper accoustic concert in Canton, MI Friday. Awesome show! I had not seen Stryper since 1985 or 1986 in Royal Oak, MI (the loudest concert I have ever seen -- and I have seen hundreds). I also wasn't sure about Stryper doing an accoustic concert. It was an evening full of worship, classic and new Stryper, testimony, Q&A and sincere sharing from the band. And yes they still pass out Bibles.

I never would have "imagined" Stryper could get away with doing "I Can Only Imagine", but it worked great.

If you get the chance -- GO!

It's hard to imagine a lot of those hardcore Stryper songs being played on acoustic instead of electric guitar. I don't think it would sound as powerful and exciting. Why are they doing acoustic shows?

This is what Michael Sweet posted about the Acoustic Church Tour at http://www.stryperforum.com

"Hello,

We wanted to make sure that everyone understands that the church shows will be about worship, not performance. It will be a time to reflect on worshiping God. It will be an acoustic set of about 12-13 songs, some Stryper songs, some worship songs. We really want this to be different in the sense that God should get ALL the glory - Stryper wants none. We've decided not to do a "traditional" meet and greet due to the fact that it isn't our time, it's Gods time. We just want every moment to point to God and not to ourselves. It will be a great time and a great opportunity to focus on The Lord and to worship with Stryper leading.

We look forward to seeing what God does and we look forward to seeing all of you.

In Him,

Stryper"

My friend who I went to the show with has been around Christian music scene since '71 and has been writing down the set list of every show he goes to since '75 (including all of the Cornerstones)

This is the list that he wrote down (though some titles may not be quite right):

Christ the Lord is Risen Today
Reach Out
Amazin' Love
I Can Only Imagine
Calling on You
Make You Mine
Oz's Guitar Solo
Wanna Make You Mine Reprise
Passion
Oz's Offeratory Guitar Interlude
Believe or Reborn ? (not sure)
Your Won't be Lonely Anymore
Oz's Guitar Solo
Lonely reprise
Honestly
Draw Me Close
Thirsty

Hope that answers your question.

Cool. Nice looking set list, however the "Don't Cha Know" song is actually called "Passion". It is an awesome song off of their new album "Reborn".

Thanks for posting the set!

I was wondering what that was and I thought I remembered "Passion" being played. I appreciate the correction; I edited/updated the play list.
