You live in Kentucky and had to ask?????

OK, I'll give you a pass, since you've got new baby on the brain and all. :)

BTW, Bob and John didn't do too well. The horse broke out of the gate badly and finished 17th.

Ok bridget,You are the only one to respond to this one. I just wanted to see how many people would think that I was CRAZY! I actually watched it and every year have a chance to go eat at the capital, but always seem to have to work.

I know absolutely nothing about the Kentucky Derby but I believe Johnathan and Calicowriter are talking about a horse race. A competition where several people ride horses on a race track and they try to be the first one to reach the finish line.

At horse races, viewers typically like to "bet" on a certain horse - say for example Person A bets on one horse and Person B bets on another. That means, if the horse that Person A bets on wins, Person B pays them a certain amount of money. But if Person A's horse loses, and Person B's horse wins, Person A has to pay Person B that amount of money. In other words, it's like gambling - some people seem to enjoy risking their money for whatever reason.

(bla bla blabbidy bla bla) :?
