About the bots

Here's a hint, guys... ignore 'em. If you reply to their messages, they float to the top of the topic list... if you leave them alone, they sink to the bottom until I or someone else comes by and deletes them. :)

Good point, MJ, but I couldn't resist replying to the dating service one. :P :) Hahahahahaha.

I guess it would probably take Micah to do this for us, but I don't see why we shouldn't upgrade the software so that it includes a captcha. I know he's pretty busy with real life, but just a thought.

I do hope he does something soon. There are captcha options for phpBB, and there are things like dirty word filtering that would help with some of it too. I just deleted six posts and I believe I have a few more to do.

Thanx

I have actually sent an email to the bot that posts the "You don't want the links? We're sorry to see you go" messages. I did it through an anonymous emailer, so hopefully it won't make me spambait through email... and hopefully it won't make that bot post MORE spams. I figured it was worth a try. :(

By the way: THANKS for not posting any replies to the spams! It has made it MUCH easier to delete them when they come up. When there are replies, I have to delete the original message, then I have to delete each reply. There doesn't seem to be a way to delete a whole message thread at once. Grumble grumble.
