Anyone else here have a GameCube? We rented Mario Party 5 for New Years and really enjoyed it until we discovered one mini-game with occult references in it... so we're not going to buy a copy for ourselves. What do you guys think of this? Are we too sensitive or what?

Here are some screen shots: http://www.guidetopetra.com/other/Astro-Logical.html

No, I think you did the right thing. We have a Gamecube, but have yet to buy any Mario titles. I will take this in to consideration when we buy games. We do try and rent them first just to make sure that they are good buy or are not evil.

Maybe he was a stunt Mario edited in later by Nintendo? But even Daisy and Peach and Yoshi participate! That's what they get for hanging around with Wario and Bowser and Toad too much.

I've added a comments form to that page, by the way, in case anyone wants to say that they think I'm a freaking nutcase or whatever. ;)

We have a game cube and all the other ones as well. I also think that Mario and a good many of all the games have a very big cult influnce.

We need discernment.

Hehe.

You have to be a nutcase to be a Pethead, it's a requirement. :D

I know Mario, he wouldn`t do that. He did it because he needs to keep working, I`m sure it was hard for him to put aside his beliefs.

I don't know, there's a lot of "magic" in MP5 (I haven't played a lot of the Mario games, so I can't comment on them), but it's mostly of the fairly tale variety. I don't really have a problem with that; to my way of thinking that stuff is all clearly imaginary... kind of a Wizard of Oz or Cinderella vibe. In fact, to turn your back on that would mean eliminating almost every Disney movie ever made. :)

We own all the Mario Party games thru MP4. We love them all but havent tried #5 yet. I've been waiting for a price drop (which will probably be awhile). I guess I'll rent it first to see, but I expect that type of stuff out of video games.

Who's your favorite Mario Party Character?

WARIO

I found myself most often being Yoshi, actually. Mikey always wanted to be Mario at first, but then I think he decided the girls were cute and after that he was always Daisy. Cat sort of switched around, but she seemed to like to be Boo (who I know is not playable in previous Mario Party games; you can also be Koopa Kid or Toad in this one).

Goombas galore, kickin' Koopas

The Thwomp from Super Mario 3

Plus who can forget about The Hammer Bros?

I enjoyed sitting for hours playing Mario and Mega Man games back in my pre-teen years, but now I've matured and enjoy sitting for hours playing Petra Zone instead.

A good change. :D
