The Petra Zone

I was wondering who is the one who actually got the zone going?

At first I thought it was Micah. Then, I noticed Michael flexing his executive muscles a few times recently, and it seems that he is usually the one who comes up with most of the impressive answers to many posts. And, it seems that Spot may have a say in this as well.

I have not worked with PHP before, but I have a website of my own which I created using MS Frontpage. To my knowledge, I could not share administrative privileges if I wanted to. So I don't understand how that is possible with the Zone.

I also noticed that both Michael AND Sam have administrative abilities to publish to her website. I was just wondering how that is accomplished?

I always guesses it was Micah, but I'm not sure. I noticed he was the first member on the memberslist.

OK... when our previous location on ezboard was up for renewal, we collectively decided that we didn't care for ezboard any more and we wanted to move. Micah volunteered to host the board for us, and it's his bandwidth that we're eating whenever we post. I can't tell you how much I, and probably everybody here, appreciate his willingness to help out and his hard work to get this going and keep it going. Sue D. actually paid for the domain name "ThePetraZone.net" when we were unable to rescue "ThePetraZone.com" which was what we were previously using. When Micah set up the boards he specified a few people as moderators so all of the burden of keeping things under control wouldn't be on him... that was a serious problem on the ezboard version so I guess we've learned from our mistakes.

As to me... I'm generally just hanging around all day when I'm at work. My work is somewhat flexible so I can check in from time to time, so I wind up getting myself in the middle of everything. I try to leave things be unless I really think there is a serious problem developing. But there are other moderators with the same level of authority as I have, and Micah can do things that even the other moderators can't do. I guess it's a testimony that this board is not a dictatorship that people wonder who's in charge. hehe

there was a website before the petrazone.COM so if we think about it, is like a cirle of life, right now we would be in our third life as a club since this is the third website where pethead hang out

Well, I for one am very thankful that the zone is here. There are so many people here with an in-depth knowledge of Petra. So many people I know like Petra, but none are what I would consider Petheads. It's good to find a place where Petra is a popular with others as they are with me.

Yep, Michael is right. I sort of run the board. I'm currently the only person who can make drastic changes to how it works.

But delegating some of that to others might not be a bad idea...

After all the stuff they had to go through to get a board....I would say it is a miracle we are all still together at one place!
