Third Day perhaps? Name a "sounds like" band or two to get us in the neighborhood.

Thanks for the recommendation Michael! What I am looking for, is a Christian Band(s) that play more in the vein of Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, Allman Brothers, 38 Special. Hope that helps some! Unfortunately, I am aware that "Southern Rock" has never really caught on in the CCM Market...which is sad cause it really is great music! The CCM seems to have a "sound a like" band for just about every single genre except Southern Rock...just my luck!

Thank you Jesus...I have found what I'm looking for!!

A Christian band called "Holy Smoke" that plays for the Christian Bikers Association! These guys sound tight and have a terrific message! For anyone else that wants to check 'em out, go to...

What about Liasion? I don't know if they fit in category of Southern Rock. But, I recall seeing a 38 Special concert on TV and thinking it sounded very much like Liason's last album "Cool Water". You might like it, if you can find it.

I think all of Liason's stuff is out-of-print but if I look hard enough I may be able to find it used somewhere! Thanks gman!

sure. Their first two albums were pretty similar and probably a little different from later albums. I don't recall the title of the the first one. It may have been self titled. The second one was Urgency. That one had some cool drums and really good songs. Maybe more keyboard than the last album. The thrid album was Hard Hitter, which I ddidn't really hear much of. The last one was Cool Water. More organic and live sounding. I don't know if they've done anything since then.

What about David and the Giants? Their music is out-of-print as well, but I would categorize it as southern rock. Some of DeGarmo and Key's music was southern rock sounding as well.
By the way, Liaison's "Hard Hitter" album sounds a lot like Metalica. I like the hard stuff, so this is one of my favs. Urgency was great too.

D&K had some sweet stuff. Even though the Heat It Up album hit bargain bins pretty quick I thought that album was great. Some really good hot rockers on there.
