I've heard about it, but I haven't tried it. I don't feel like I'm tech savvy enough to jailbreak any of my gadgets.

Yeah it has allowed me to do some emulation of older systems. I did it with a Graphing TI calculator it's not technical if you want some instructions.

It's not so much the jailbreaking part as it is the I wouldn't know what to do with it after I jailbreak it part. That, and I'd probably do something to the OS that wouldn't allow me to use it anymore.

Fair enough, I guess with some of the software stuff it would be safest to not unlock. It's only for making backups & running homebrew apps.

I've never really been a fan of hacking systems. At one time I did, but I tend to start feeling like somethings wrong with the sytem after i've made several mods. I like to try to keep things in their original condition. I guess having 2 PS3's would be better, one for normal use and the other to mod the heck out of.
