Dawn Treader music

Post by rexreed » Sun Dec 12, 2010 10:33 pm

It seems as if someone in Petra was a Narnia fan with the Dawn Treader music reference in a few copyrights. Dawn Treader opened this weekend in the U.S. with decent, but less than stellar numbers. I saw it and enjoyed it. It is doing gangbusters in other markets. Off the top of my head I can think of the following C.S. Lewis references in pop culture.
1) The Dawn Treader credit on some Petra songs
2) The band Poor Old Lu, I believe that was a line from the first book.
3) The band Silverchair
4) Sixpence None the Richer

any more?

A bunch of the earlier Petra songs were published by Dawn Treader Music.

The Swedish metal-band Narnia. There are two or more bands from the 70s called Aslan.

There's also this guy who made a CD about (I think) The Great Divorce a couple of years ago, but I don't remember his name.

There is a Star Song compilation album called Dawn Treader One, released in 1978 with a very nice cover.

2nd Chapter of Acts released Roar Of Love in 1980, which is based on the Narnia Chronicles.

I am hearing from other Lewis freaks that this is the best and truest adaptation of the three thus far.

I love the Chronicles of Narnia and the "Roar of Love" CD by Second Chapter of Acts. I like the Narnia movies and am planning to see "Dawn Treader". They don't really do justice to the books though, and in fairness, it would be sort of difficult for them to. I don't think I've ever seen a movie based on a book that's as good as the book.

This is the CD about The Great Divorce. And it's a real music CD, not an audio book.

It seems like I have heard that the BBC production of "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" used "Roar of Love" as part of the musical score. Does anyone know if this is true?

2nd Chapter of Acts has put the "Roar of Love" music on their website where you can hear it, but I am having trouble downloading the plug-in I need to hear it.

Hmmm.... I have both the BBC version series of the Narnia Chronicles and the 2nd Chapter Of Acts album, but I never noticed. I'll try and see if I can find out. I don't think so, though.

The TV series "Lost" has several references to C.S. Lewis and his books.
