REZ & BLOODGOOD

Behind Petra these 2 are my favorites back in the day. My REZ favs are "Silence Screams" & "Civil Rites", but my favorite song is "Shadows.
Within a 5 yr period no one pumped out more or better metal than Bloodgood.

I'd like to pick up some Rez. ever bought any back in the day, there just wasn't enough money to buy everything. WHat is a good starting point for rez?

I liked some Rez...saw them in concert once, had a couple albums. My "problem" with Rez was I never cared for Wendy's singing! Though I really liked Glenn's! Someone Sleeps is probably my favorite song of theirs, but they've got lots of good ones. Shadows is another favorite.

As a starting point for Rez, you might check out one of their live albums, see what you like there. As far as studio albums go, Between Heaven and Hell and Silence Screams are my favorites. But I kinda dropped out at that point, don't know their stuff beyond that.

Never got into Bloodgood.

Innocent Blood is, imo, far and away the best of the later REZ albums. But you can't really go wrong with any album from the Silence Screams-Innocent Blood-Civil Rites group. Each is one of the best Christian metal albums ever made. Earlier REZ, when they were called the Resurrection Band, has some great stuff, too. Anything from Colours-Mommy Don't Love Daddy Anymore-D.M.Z. would be worth your while, as well.

Rez has many items over at their site that are worth the money; The XX Twenty Years Live CD(double) is really good and also for $40 you can get their greatest hits 3CD with a live DVD and also concept videos
I will be honest and say that Rez production value of all their CD's are far and above way better than Petra's in any decade. Their stuff from the 70's is easily comparable quality wise to anything the secular industry had to offer at that given time.

Very true. Awaiting Your Reply and Rainbow's End are tremendous albums, much better than Petra's self-titled or Come and Join Us. It really helped that they had Glenn Kaiser's awesome voice and hard rock/blues style from the beginning and not the mishmash of vocalists and styles Petra endured before Greg and JDB came along.

EDITED to correct the name of the band's first album. "Waves" is the first song on the album, not the name of the album.

"The Messiah" by Bloodgood is one of my all-time favorite songs.

Resurrection Band/Rez Band/Rez...not a weak album in the discography, which as much as I love Petra, is more than I can say for them (*cough*Double Take*cough*cough*).

And I LOVE Wendi Kaiser's vocals...sort of a Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) thing going on. Which is what makes the cover of "Somebody to Love" so stellar.

As stated before, _Twenty Years XX Live_ is probably a great place to start, as it covers the whole run up to that point (which is most of their career.) _Reach of Love_ is probably my fave Rez album, but that may be because it's one that we played HEAVILY during my teenage years. "Heart's Desire" is quite possibly my favorite hard-rock worship song ever. _Civil Rites_ is a great one as well.

As for Bloodgood, I came to them kinda late. I think I'd heard them on a compilation album, but one day we were at a thrift store and I came across 3 or 4 of their tapes for $0.50 apiece...decided to give them a shot. Good stuff. "Messiah" is a great song, as is "Crucify" and the epic "Seven."
