Joes testimony

Post by trodLAN » Wed Dec 07, 2011 4:19 pm

Didn't know that about Joe.
I have all his christian records, and didn't know they were the results of a drug addict and non-believer...!?

He has played with both John Lawry and Greg X Volz in the 80's.

That is quite shocking.

I'm not sure how to place this, because it's coming from the Word of Faith movement (which seems to have a somewhat bad reputation). I'm not sure what they taught him there. So I'm sort of wondering if the problems he described during his Christian music career were so influential on his work that his music should suddenly be something we should throw away because it is 'of the devil'. He hardly wrote any of the songs on his albums himself and having bad behaviour on the road is of course not a great testimony, but it doesn't turn the music into the devil's instrument. So I'm not sure what to think.

Interesting confession. I guess the industry had its abusers even back then.

The old man can still belt it.

I am not a big WOF movement proponent, but it sounds like God has made himself known to Joe and Joe has surrendered, and that is important.

As far as the industry...I have said it before, and Joe has alluded to it, it is full of people making a buck, living like hell. It is mostly about the money. It is wrapped in a nice little KLOVE smiling, soft talking, sickening sweet soccer mom wrapper. The drugs, prostitution, drinking, stealing, etc has been going on in the artists and offices of the labels. It brought Star Song to it's knees. Most of the Christian labels are owned and managed by secular people, who are doing things as the world does. This is nothing new to me. This is why most Christian music makes me sick and I cannot stand most of it.

This and a couple of other related things are on my mind and it kept me from getting a good night's sleep. I saw those shows, heard his testimony at those shows. I saw the videos of him telling his story. It is really no different than the majority of church goers. There is a hold out of complete surrender. Heck, I have a little of it in my own life, I must admit. The only thing that makes Joe's testimony more dramatic is that he was in front of concentrated audiences. We, I, do it one at a time. I am letting this be "come to Jesus" moment. It is time to ratchet it up a notch.

Thanks it puts it in perspective. I've always said if these artists classify themselves as ministers like Petra and others do, then we should hold them to a higher accountibility because I believe God does.
