New bands
Anyone into new Christian bands? We've talked about the "golden" era with names like Petra, Rez, Whitecross, D&K, etc, but are there any new up and coming bands that get you excited? I don't have any. I thought that Disciple would be my kind of group but the cd I picked wasn't near as fun to listen to as the concert. I'm glad to see the likes of Third Day and Newsboys still making the rounds with extensive tours. When those are gone it will be the occasional $10 at the door Petra show or I'll be staying home...unless there are some good new acts. Well?

Re: New bands
I don't listen to Christian music now, unless it is on the radio when my wife and daughter are in the car. Some of it sounds good, honestly. I just don't have the time to invest in it.

Re: New bands
The last new thing I liked was when Louie was in Viktor. I bought several copies of their pre-release CD and was very sad they never made it beyond that. But I REALLY like that CD.

Decemberadio is a band I like; they have bluesy, southern rock feel to them with some edge. A little on the lighter side I think Fireflight is a good choice.

Newworldson is a Canadian band that I got into through my Dad. Definitely not a rock band, but they are fresh... and unique! Sort of a blues/jazz/soul/pop mix, but they have a great message. Their CD, "Salvation Station" is definitely worth checking out, haven't heard anything else by them though.

Downhere is very good. Building 429 also puts out great stuff. I also like to go back a bit and listen to Dakoda Motor Company now and again. Paul Alan's solo discs are also fantastic; loaded with tons of yummy stuff, imo.

Re: New bands
I have all three albums. Next week they're releasing a fourth album. They are unique and have a refreshing sound. Highly recommended!LivingRock wrote:Newworldson is a Canadian band that I got into through my Dad. Definitely not a rock band, but they are fresh... and unique! Anthem Lights also seems like they're doing some good stuff. I only heard of them just recently, and they're going through a line-up change right now (we all know what THAT'S like) but I've been really enjoying their song "Can't Get Over You" I look forward to seeing what they'll be up to in the future.

Re: New bands
In the last few weeks I've found a couple of groups Ashes Remain & 7th Time Down; the latter seems to have a little more edge and more straight forward lyrics.
