Neal Morse was in Spocks Beard and Transatlantic with Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater). Neal became a Christian and quit to do Christian prog, including some of the same musicians, witnessing and rubbing off on them. Recently he began recording and touring again with Transatlantic. Neal is a great musician. Mike Portnoy used to play with Neal solo. So for Paul to get that gig, that is saying' something.

Paul is in the top 3 finalist , but they're gonna reveal the final line up next week. in some part of the video Neal introduce Paul as the drummer of Petra.
this year Neal joined forces with Portnoy once again and they formed a super prog-rock group, including Steve Morse ( one of my fav guitar players) Dave Larue on bass and i forgot the name of the singer, theyre called Flying Colors, the album is pretty amazing for any music lover. you should check it out

Portnoy also has been playing with Derek Sherinian (previously of DT), Billy Sheehan (Talas, David Lee Roth, Mr. Big), Tony McAlpine (too many to mention) in another group. Forget the name.

Own all of that stuff. GREAT MUSIC!!!! i was a bit disappointed with Adrenaline Mob. With all of that talent, especially Russell Allen, I just expected more. Too bad for Paul. This may open up new doors for him.

If I had the money, I would have him start tracking drums for me tomorrow.

Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but maybe this experience could open up some new interest in Petra's music. If only a new curiosity:)

Too bad Paul didn't get the gig, but that is not really his bag anyway. There is something better suited for him out there....

"On April 30, 2012, it was announced on the website of progressive rock artist Neal Morse that Simmons would be the new drummer for Morse's American touring band."
This is from Pauls' Wikipedia page, don't know how truthful it is.

I apologize. I read he was NOT chosen on another site. Perhaps another drummer got excited, or someone got excited on his behalf. Well cool then. I hope Paul grows into the music and all of its subtleties.
