Not sure if I've ever seen Hollywood produce a fictional president that I could support. Maybe if Chuck Norris plays a president someday.

I like the president in "Mars Attack" but I can see why a typical republican voter would be opposed to a president who says, "Why can't we all just get along?"

Instead of this being titled "Mars Attack" shouldn't it be titled "liberals attack?"

Ok, first of all, I'm not a Republican, I'm conservative and yes, there is a difference. Second, that was an extremely narrow minded and prejudicial thing to say. It's also rather ironic that someone who would accuse others of "not getting along" would go on the attack like that. Can you smell the hypocrisy?

I would think that any Christian would find the phrase, "Why can't we all just get along?" or the concept of "Can't we all just get along?" very, very offensive. It is certainly unscriptural, and flies in the face of everything Scripture tells us about human nature.

The simple fact of the matter, made plain by the word of God, is that humanity absolutely, positively can NOT just "get along". One of the results of the fall is that this is patently impossible. It will be easier and far more feasible to build a space-elevator to the moon than to strive to enable a fallen humanity to "just get along".

Only through the transforming Power of The Holy Spirit received by Faith In Christ can humans avoid deadly, bloody conflict. Only Christ can bring peace. Only Christ can put an end to the conflict. And this He will surely do when He returns to establish His Kingdom.

And even then we will definitely not just "get along". Instead, we will have Love, which is as far superior to "getting along" and to "tolerance" as truth is to a lie, or as gold is to iron pyrite (i.e. "fools gold"). Love empowers and strengthens. Love goes beyond "getting along" to communion, fellowship, and charity. Love gives power. Tolerance takes it away. Love saves souls. Trying to "get along" lulls lost souls faster asleep.

To "get along" is a myth. You might as well wish to ride on unicorns or marry a mermaid. But Love is something Christ promises to give to those who put their trust in Him.

Now, as for the job of a President. The simple fact is, some people in this world will not receive Christ as their savior. Some of those people will commit acts of violence. If you are the president of any nation, it is your job to defend that nation ... with deadly force when necessary. That is the job of any president, prime minister, king, or any other executive leader of a nation. And it is not "loving" for him to shirk that duty. If anything, his love for those who trust him to protect them should be the prime motivator.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure what you were getting at with that remark, but if it was meant to be an insult toward those Republicans, then it wasn't very Christian. If it was not meant to be an insult, then it wasn't very clear.

I forgot about him; he did a great job with the character. It also helped that he kind of looks somewhat like Richard Nixon.
