Bono on the merits of Capitalism

Just a few articles for thought. I think I'm with him to a point on Capitalism with a conscience. I'm convinced, as a re many others in the U.S., that progressive politicians like big Gov't, and Gov't controlling society. To that end, they work hard to erase morality and also to convince people that Capitalism with a conscience is an impossible myth. Capitalism can only be a bad thing long term, and we must move away from it. Big corporations are evil, and rich people only care about screwing everybody else on their way to the top.
I'll admit that in the company I work for, there is a large disparity between the folks at the very top making a handsome six figures, and the folks at the very bottom making a not so great hourly wage. I don't like that, but there are companies everywhere that are not structured like that. One thing I'm convinced of is that politicians stepping in to do something about companies like mine would be a colossally bad idea. I'm convinced the U.S. is worse off because of the extent to which the Gov't has already stuck it's nose into wages.

Right. Had it not been for capitalism, Bono and U2 wouldn't be anything more than a popular college kid band playing pubs. Had it not been for capitalism, the world would not have been able to fund the largest, most successful missions organizations. We wouldn't have Christian rock music, Petra, etc. If God alone made it all happen by himself, why don't CDs and stereo systems just materialize in the hands of all potential fans of the world?
