If you're referring to this happening when he's doing a Kickstarter campaign, I agree, no, it shouldn't be a surprise. The timing is just a little too convenient not to raise questions. We need to look at the big picture though and pray for him. Even if high profile people in ministry or music or whatever start out sincere, it's all too easy for them to fall into the trap of keeping the ministry going or bringing in the money whatever the cost and he's not alone in that by any means. I am not defending him; of course he should be held accountable, and of course it's not right, but balancing being high profile and walking the narrow path can be tricky. There is a balancing point between calling someone on sin without condemning the sinner also; we all sin and fall short.

Just wanted to see what you guys thought first, I didn't want to be quick to judge. I would say I agree with you guys.

I'm apparently missing some of the backstory here.

I was referring to the way they indicated at the end of the article to "click here to support his Kickstarter campaign". I believe he was doing a Kickstarter campaign when he had his cancer diagnosis they talk about in the article and was later apparently healed from. It's been awhile though, so I don't remember all the circumstances. I don't know Carman personally and I don't have any way of knowing for sure if he has had a heart attack or not. I do have a pretty good idea from years of doing medical transcription and knowing a few people with heart problems that they would probably have a heart attack patient on oxygen, and they don't in this picture. His picture probably wouldn't be taken while he's being treated at the hospital either in most cases. It's just my take and not because I know all the circumstances. I don't have anything against Kickstarter either by the way. It's the timing I wonder about.

I can't speak for him, but if I were having all these health problems I would be focused on spending time with my family.

Good point. I'd focus more on getting whatever treatment I needed and doing my best to get better and focus less on posting this sort of stuff on the Internet too.

Well, Carman always was a showman. If there was a Christian casino in Vegas, he would have been the headliner.

Even in Vegas I think that you have to have some average songs. Carman never was able to record one... he is terrible.

Branson might be a better fit. Either way, you build it, they will come. He was a headliner at Creation some years ago. I labeled it Barney for adults. We didn't stick around, but the crowd was full of Charismatics that ate it up.

Now that you mention it, I can't think of any really good Carman songs. Of course there's "The Champion" which was a favorite with youth group drama teams... and that's really it. "Witch's Invitation" is the only other one I'm familiar with. I can't think of anything else.
