Which Distortion Pedal to Buy?

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to get a classic 80's hard rock/ heavy metal tone, such as in Hit You Where You Live or Mine Field? Should I buy a pedal? If so, any recommendations? Would the Boss Metal Zone Mt 2 or the Boss Ds 2 be any good? Thanks.

Contact Bob through his website and ask what he used. I started to post a winded thing on various pedals. But, just ask Bob. I think you will want to change amps and pick-ups, not just add a pedal.

Look on YouTube for some of Michael Sweet's videos where he discusses things like equipment and tunings. He's a tech head when it comes to guitar gear.
