CD collections

Post by Diehardpetrafan:) » Thu Oct 03, 2019 4:03 pm

There was a thread on Heavy Harmonies.com about your CD collections. Some people's are just huge. I have 9 but 2 are coming soon. Anyone care to share theirs? Please list your CD's titles unless of course yours are as big as this 😂

But if they're as big as mine

Or this poor guy's 😂😂

Then I'd like to know exactly what'cha got unless the picture lists them visibly. I'm obsessed with CDs I love them, so I would love to see yours!! :) :)

What, I've got Spotify, I rarely listen to my CD's since I gotta borrow a CD player, but they're still great to have, in my opinion.

I have at least 500 CDs purchases over the last 30 years and many cassettes and some vinyl as well. Too big a job to list them, but I can tell you the following about my CCM collection:

Petra: All of the CDs, a few cassettes and vinyl
Resurrection Band: All of the CDs, a couple of cassettes, 2 vinyl
Stryper: All of the CDs, first 6 albums on cassette, a few vinyls including a rare unopened, unplayed To Hell With the Devil LP with the original cover still in original plastic packaging
Daniel Band: All of the CDs, 1 vinyl
Barnabas: All of the CDs
Daniel Amos: All on digital (rediscovered them only about 7 years ago), 1 vinyl
Bloodgood: A couple of CDs
Larry Norman: 2 Best ofs containing 44 songs
Randy Stonehill: Welcome to Paradise
Sin Dizzy: He's Not Dead
Whitecross: Flytrap
King's X: 2 CD singles and several downloads

Beyond that, I've relied on Spotify, YouTube and christianclassicrock.com as well as memories of my brothers and friends playing music.

My entire CD collection fits in a small four drawer cabinet. The majority of my music purchases in the past decade have been digital, and I get hold of lossless files (FLAC) whenever possible, which sound just as good as CD, and since I rip all of my music to digital files anyway, it just saves me a step -- there are some CDs in my collection that have only been taken out of the package once to rip them, and then I never touch them again!

According to my digital audio player, I have 755 albums worth of music, probably 3/4 of which are lossless; the rest are high quality MP3. If they all existed as physical albums, they would probably occupy an entire wall of my house! A lot easier to manage as searchable files, and I can carry my entire music collection literally in the palm of my hand.

My complete collections are:

Petra (of course)
Joe Satriani
The Beatles
Steve Taylor
George Winston
Keith Green
Third Day
David Gilmour
Roger Waters

Artists that I have all but two or three albums:

Journey
Celine Dion
Sabaton
White Heart
Pink Floyd
Guardian
PFR
Stryper
Vangelis

And special mention to Johnny Cash. I have 49 of his albums in my collection, which is only about half of the albums he released!

I've been collecting music in one form or another for the past 35-years, so it's not like it was a short period of time.

Check to see if your local library supports Freegal. It's a music service that let's you download a few free songs every week. My library limits it to 5, but it's where over the past several years I picked up most of my Third Day collection, Celine Dion, Johnny Cash, early Journey albums, Joe Satriani, Gilmour, Waters, and several others. It's slow and steady with so few downloads a week, but it's free, so I can't complain, and it has exposed me to some music that I probably would have otherwise ignored.

I listen to pretty much everything, except rap and hip hop. I've just never been able to get into that style of music.

Sounds like me. My collection is all over the map as well. What is your favorite Vangelis?

I share a collection with my father and brother, which totalled about 600 discs last I counted. It's all in storage right now, though, so it's hard to get a picture. Certainly can't list everything, but I can say that it includes all the albums of the following bands (in CD/Record):

Petra
Newsboys
WhiteHeart
Crumbacher
Steve Camp
Casting Crowns
Greg X. Volz (even the weird ones)
John Schlitt
Servant
DeGarmo & Key (pra'lly missing a couple of these)
