Last night my mom and I were discussing tickets because she doesn't think I should spend my summer money on these really expensive New Order tickets but I said they were gonna be dead by the time I'll ever get to see them, and then she said how Bob Dylan (who I thought was dead for some reason) and the Rolling Stones were still playing, and then "Carman just died! They're still gonna be here" and so that's how I found out that Carman was dead :|

There is one problem with your mom's logic when it pertains to CCM. Christian artists don't have the shelflife of secular artists. You had better see whomever it is you want to see when you have a chance. It is going to be another year or two before touring even remotely gets back to some kind of normalcy. Venues are being limited to 10% capacity in some states. Until CA and NY allow 100%, touring on a larger scale will remain as it is now.

He told everyone he was cured of some disease. Kinda sounded like a fraudster near the end. Sad

I think he was more Vegas showman than conman, but I'll admit, I only know of like two of his songs and never really followed his career.

Wow. The old thread revived.

I might be the only one, but I really didn't like the Carman tune with Petra.

That whole God has been removed from the classroom thing is a tired argument. It's made by people who wrap the US flag around the cross of Christ and sell it as one thing. That is not the reason why the schools went to hell. The schools are a reflection of the family units, and THEY are what went to hell. As Morgan Cryar sang, "You Can Still Pray In The USA." You don't need a law. There is no law prohibiting the Christian life. I will go a step further and say that the law protects Christians from being subject to the prayers of other religions that are growing larger and becoming more influential than Christianity. I don't want my grandchildren subject to praying to Allah or some other god. So, everyone pray to themselves.

It was good seeing Charlene in the video. The video was filmed in Tulsa, and Charlene was a former disc jockey at KCFO and KXOJ (my old stomping ground), which were Tulsa's only CCM stations at the time. She died of cancer years ago. She was super nice.

You aren't alone. the school prayer argument sure is old and tired. Especially when you actually study history and learn about the terrible things that still took place when there was mandated publicly led prayer. The real reason I wasn't a fan is the song is pretty blah. and it is 100 percent Carman. Us, our parents, our teachers.... lame lame lame.

The problem with the school prayer issue today is that the essence on which the United States was founded has been perverted. Our Founding Fathers were openly and unashamedly Christian, and I don't think it ever occurred to them that some day, the laws they created would be used to protect anything other than the right of Christians to freely worship the God of the Bible. As John Adams famously said, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." The primary concern of the First Amendment was prohibiting the Federal government from establishing a state religion like the Church of England. I think if they had been alive to see it, they would have been shocked and bewildered by the Supreme Court's decision to prohibit Christian prayer in school.
