I poured one out for him to the strains of The Great Gig in the Sky.

I don't think he or any of his cronnies were all that great. I feel I'm always in the minority with music styles and tastes; For instanced I think the Beatles changed nothing to the music business and were so overated, but most musicans today credit them at being the best influence on them.

That would kinda be influencing the music business.

I only have Darkside of the Moon, but I do consider that a phenomenal album. As a bass player, you don't get the opportunity to appreciate much better bass lines than the one in "Money".

To each his/her own. PF was a great band collectively. Some of their best work was not the most popular IMO.

The Beatles...They sure did change things, in BIG ways. No other act has sold over a half BILLION units. I am not saying that everything that they did was good. They were like any band. But they did change how things are done, they made the way for modern recording equipment and techniques, and were gracious fans of American music.
