Where is the interpretation? Where is the edification of the saints?

ow. I heard a lot of english words in there; or at least twisting of english words.
When do you think tongues were done away with? I lean towards the idea that they didn't cease with a specific event or at a specific time, but rather that God gave tongues to a limited number of believers for a specific purpose and their use faded away as those believers died off.

There definately is a gift. All I know is what the bible says. Paul says that there should be one at a time, no more than three, and there should be interpretation so that all understand. THAT is the qualifier. I have never heard multiple people decifer tongues discretely and come up with the same thing. So, the real gift is discernment of them.

And presumably, nothing crazy has ever been spoken from the pulpit at Trinity United Church of Christ or St. Sabina.

Yeah, that cartoon is more than just political satire, it's buffoonery. It clearly oversteps the bounds of caricaturing and goes right into making stuff up that isn't even close to truth. For someone who screams for people on this board to have a little objectivity, RJ clearly doesn't have any.

I was thinking it tipped the scales at sacrilegious myself. I mean God as an uncouth fat guy with what appears to be a drunk's nose? I think I must be more sensitive to this kind of irreverence than I used to be. Certainly such things are to be expected, but that doesn't mean I can't loathe it for what it is.
