Will you get Sicko?

Post by brent » Sun Feb 22, 2009 8:14 am

Since none of you got my satire, maybe you will get my position after viewing the movie Sicko. Check it out.

We had a foriegn exchange student from France this year. It was quite an eye opener.

I guess some people think that France wouldn't be such a bad place to live. I don't think that you can do the things that some of these other countries are doing, and have it be done inside of a vacuum where somehow we remain the same United States we've always been.

I'm not sure what your point is. We have two posters who are from countries that have socialized health care and they say things are great, so I'll take their word for it over someone who has never had that type of experience.

And you answer is to request that people watch a film by the most biased "documentary" film maker in history? Right. It doesn't really help your case. Michael Moore's films are about as objective as Sean Hannity.

separateunion, Sicko validates the claims of others here, that other systems are much better than ours. Sicko is a documentary that asks the question: Why do we not have healthacre for our citizens, when we are the great USA? He goes to foreign countries and looks at their health care vs. ours here. He takes France and Cuba for example, where people get free health care and darn near free medicine.

So, to clear it up, that is my point. Why can't we, supposedly the most generous nation, care for everyone here like other countries our government and/or media demonize. They may not have the best foreign policies, but they take care of their own, and they live longer on less money.

I am not for Obama's ways of doing it. But I am for the concept.

It may be great for them because it's what they've known for a long time. I think Obama would have people believe that we can socialize everything in sight, and when it's all done we'll wake up to the same United States we woke up before all this mess got started. Not gonna happen.

I said before I thought it would be more cost effective to just cut a check, to anyone that wants healthcare, to help them pay for whatever care they choose. When they create this Gov't plan they are going for, I'll be watching to see how they respond to the large numbers of people who don't take it. I think it's a bloated idea that covers more people than it should. I'll worried when they Gov't expands its' healthcare enough that my employer could dump its private insurance and tell everyone to go with the Gov't plan. I think I'll be looking for a cash only doctor.
