Hi, my daughter is 9 and starting to get into music. She has loved Petra since she was little but she likes stuff like Hilary Duff. I'm looking for suggestions of christian music that she would like in that type of style. Any suggestions? thanks. Gary.

Personally, I would suggest getting your daughter into a completely different kind of music. Like maybe some music that is...well, music. 8)

Thanks very much. You know little girls. I'll try these out. She does go to a christian school and loves the Lord and I'm sure she wants to listen to things of Him but she has a style she likes so I'll help her out. Thanks and God bless.

What about Sam's music? We mustn't forget about our very own Sam Arnold's. If your daughter can handle Petra, she can handle Sam's music. 8)

I can't say enough in support of Rebecca St. James. We don't even have any of her CDs (well, we do have the !Hero soundtrack) but her behavior when we mobbed her after !Hero was exemplary. It was obvious that she was exhausted (TWO 2-hour performances of !Hero in one day!), but she spent time with us anyway and displayed a very Christlike attitude. Things I've read about her in interviews indicate that she is really focused on her relationship with the Lord. Her music is possibly a little more rock than Hillary Duff type of music (that's pretty bubble-gummy), but RSJ I would consider to be a very good role model for a young girl. And despite what Britney thinks, it IS important for our music heroes to be good role models. :)

If she's into Duff she's probably into Radio Disney or Disney Channel, and if she's into that she's probably heard Jump5 already. They're a Christian kid group, but they've had a lot of stuff on Disney Channel and I think they even had a video on one of Disney's DVDs.

Don't forget...

ZOEgirl...they have changed their style to a harder edge sound. I think she would like them. My daughter likes Hilary too...but I turned her onto ZOEgirl and stuff...
