Well, I finally found one at a Hastings in Ames, IA: a copy of U2 October. What a genial album! It is like something in between Boy and War (obviously). I think U2 made their best albums in the early 80's. My favorite albums of theirs are Unforgettable Fire and October.
Now I've heard every U2 studio album. Of course that's not eternally important and doesn't get me to heaven, but in this terminal life it's nice to experience new music by the bands I like.
Now only two Def Leppard albums to go - I've heard 'em all except for High 'n' Dry and Slang. The best ones are Pyromania and Hysteria. I could also say that Euphoria is surprisingly good for an album released as recent as 1999, since a few other 80's bands are notorious for sounding crummy in the late 90's.
"X" was a lame album, though. Boring all the way through.

just for fun I'm gonna list the U2 albums in order of preference from most to least favorite. I know this is pointless but who cares
1: Unforgettable Fire
2: October
3: War
4: Boy
5: Joshua Tree
6: Achtung Baby
7: Zooropa
8: All That You Can't Leave Behind
9: Pop
def Leppard album preference:
1: Hysteria
2: Pyromania
3: Adrenalize
4: On Thru the Night
5: Retroactive
6: Euphoria
7: the album known as "X"
. . . (there are 2 I have not listened to yet - mentioned in previous post)
Actually I sold or gave away a lot of my tapes and cd's because having them has distracted me from God a lot of times. Sometimes I miss listening to them but at least I know that shows a willingness to suffer for the sake of Christ (which I'm not good at). Of course I still have my Petra albums because I feel that God probably has a plan for me to use them somehow in the future.

You didn't really like All That You Can't Leave Behind. I think it is one of their best. I didn't really care much for their stuff in the 90's.

Well, Achtung and Zooropa did have a few poor-quality songs, but to my opinion they both had more good songs than Can't Leave Behind. I only really like 3 or 4 songs on ATYCLB - "Beautiful Day" being one of them, of course.. The rest of that album is kind of mundane, though not bad.

What alot of people don't realize is Hysteria is the best selling rock album of all time. At last count it had sold 28M copies. Joe Elliot(lead singer for DEF) said in an interview last year, that when they tour they sell more copies of Hysteria at their concerts then any other merch. by far. It's amazing that album 17 years old still sells that well.

For the U2 and Lep fans here, what are your favorite albums of either bands?
