Hmm, that depends on the circumstance. I mean I do face my monitor, cos after all that's what I gotta look at to see the stuff on the net.
But the other part is more difficult to answer, cos, I move it to whatever direction I want it to face. So it's more an allaround directional thing....

It is not so much the question that is stupid it is all of our answers.
It is summer so I am away from the window that the afternoon sun comes in.

well, that all depends which computer you are talking about.
The really old one is a....a....shoot, I dunno
and the one I'm on right now is an IBM Thinkpad. Which means, that the computer does all the thinking for me, which leaves me free to do other things that do not require brain strain - like answering this question...

I have a iMac and its the BOMB. I do audio video on it, and its great. If your into media, get a Mac.
