Most Underrated Petra Song

Post by ErioL » Tue Mar 15, 2005 10:05 pm

Personally I think some of the most underrated songs are Kenaniah and All The Kings Horses. I also really think Sleeping Giant is underrated.

I'll nominate a most poignant, beautiful song off an album that most people don't like (but I LOVE), and that is:

"The Invitation"

.... from God Fixation

Look at these lyrics... they're such a real picture of the beginning of eternity:

The Invitation
Matthew 22:2-10

The King has planned the supper for the wedding of His Son
And He sent out His servants to invite the chosen ones
But they would not receive them and they all refused to come
So He sent them to the highways inviting everyone
They came from every direction
They entered into the gates of the One
The One who called them and gave them the right to sit next to
His Son
Do you see...

It's your invitation
Your presence is requested at the marriage of the Lamb
It's your invitation
To be the guest of honor at the wedding of the Great I Am

They'll come from every nation, tribe, and tongue
All those with ears to hear Him knocking
There will be rich and poor alike
There will be old and young
He stands outside of the door
Not all will hear Him but there will be some
They'll hear the voice of the Bride and the voice of the Spirit
say, "come"
Do you hear...

Oh, He's God's worthy Lamb
We'll drink from the Water of Life
In garments of white
With no end in sight
Did you know

Mary's Song (Washes Whiter Than)
Disciple (More Power to Ya)
King's Ransom (Back to the Street)

Some of my favorite underrated songs (which also happen to be some of my favorite songs) are: "Underground", "Sight Unseen", "Two Are Better Than One", and "In the Likeness of You". I know there's more, but my brain's tired right now. :P

Kenaniah and All The King's Horses used to be among my favorites when i listened to This Means War 7 days a week. awesome songs.
as well as Sacred Trust, Think On These Things, Stand in The Gap, Shakin' The House, King's Ransom, Marks of The Cross, I Am Available, Till Everything I Do, Be of Good Cheer, Underground, Two Are Better Than One, Likeness of You.

and also

i am just listening to God Fixation. when it was released i didnt like it very much, being a rocker kinda Petra fan as i am. but now i think it's one of the best Petra albums. Over The Horizon is awesome. If I Had to Die For Someone too. what an excellent album.

I would like to add The Longing from Double Take to my list. Like most, Double Take isn't my favorite Petra CD, but it does have some good stuff on it. Take another listen to The Longing. It really is a quality song.

also in Disciple after Mark sings "Jesus told me to follow" you can clearly hear someone go "oah" like they just got punched in the well you know....
Maybe Greg was showing Mark how to hit a high note
listen to the song I am serious!
