Angelica-different singers for each album?? I'm so confused

Post by Diehardpetrafan:) » Thu Jul 04, 2019 9:10 pm

One of my favorite bands, Angelica, a Canadian Christian Rock band formed in 1989, I just found our had like, multiple different singers! I had heard that Andy Lyon sings for their first album, and I guess Ken Tamplin sings one song on there, don't know which one, though. Walkin in Faith has Jerome Mazza, I knew that, but then I guess I never heard anyone else so I just assumed that he sang for every other album. I heard that Rock Stock & Barrel has Drew Baca?? But when I looked up Jerome, him now, looks like that guy in the top right corner!! Plus, I never noticed any difference in voices except from their debut album and the rest. And then I heard that Rob Rock sings?? Where? Which album? No one said which album or songs anyone sings, and now I'm so confused. Anyone with more knowledge?

At least you won’t have to worry about keeping track of singers on the new album. I believe it’s all instrumental.

Oh I didn't know they had a new album. I'm not real big on instrumentals though except their one called Harvest and Switch 625 by Def Leppard and one by Iron Maiden, I don't quite remember what it's called right now. That's not a big deal it's just I get attached to people's names and how they fit the person so when I find out differently either it gets confusing or just disappointing,

GH, it’s coming out in August. It’s called “Without Words.” I have no idea who else plays on it, but apparently someone convinced Dennis Cameron to release a guitar album. There is more information on the Girder Music site.

I recall purchasing Angelica back in my high school days. I was desperate for some heavy music and I was convinced that listening to secular bands would send me to hell. I remember the Family Bookstore ad in the Houston Chronicle had some new albums featured. Let's see here, Angelica, sounds a bit like Metallica. Back then you could sample an album before purchasing when you went to certain stores. Truth be told I was going to buy the Angelica album regardless of how it sounded. I liked the album cover. Yes, that's how I rolled back then and it is the reason I have so many lousy records! I purchased the cassette and really liked what I heard. It wasn't hard like Metallica but at least it was rock and roll. Now, In my neck of the woods there was a healthy live concert scene when it came to CCM, but bands like ANgelica never came around.

After a more albums were released it was clear as to why- Angelica wasn't really a band as much as it was Dennis Cameron and some hired guns. Listening back now the music is "meh" at best. My favorite album was Rock, Stock and Barrell (although it has the worst album cover, Look at it! Absolutely horrible!) with Cover Me being my favorite song. I believe Ken Tamplin produced the first album with the black cover. Overall Angelica never really did accomplish much. A gimmick name and a good guitar player, but no Petra or D&K quality library.

They’re one of my favorite bands. You will be disappointed in me, I seriously went and custom made a pillow case with that album cover on it    I absolutely love them and am convinced I’m their biggest fan, because even the ppl who like them still seem to have a complaint, but I cannot offer any at all.

Okay, it's true that perhaps their music is a little too overproduced, pop-rock/metal, but it's not awful. Not my fav band but I like some of their songs... I would understand that it wasn't anything groundbreaking or unusual though.

Diehardpetrafan, you could possibly like P.K. Mitchell. Sounds not too different from Angelica... A little though.

They are your favorite band? Well, good for you and them I suppose:) I don't think I ever met another person who heard of them, much less considered them a favorite. I was more into Petra, Tourniquet, D&K, Newsboys(although not so much now) Journey, Def Leppard and Asia. I don't really care for most of Metallica (who Angelica was clearly trying to position themselves against), but I think they are quality, just not my cup of tea. It fun remembering the good ole days talking about Dennis Cameron....
