If I remember right, didn't they play with Skillet at one point. I thought they should have done a tour with Skillet after J&H came out. I don't know all the behind the scenes workings of things. I'm guessing that touring with any popular group didn't happen because they didn't have the financial backing to put it together.
John talks routinely about the Christian bands and artists that paved the way and were a light for him in dark times. Especially when he is playing at an event where any of those people have also played.

Yes, I remember this old video There actually are a number of Christian musicians who have been inspired by Petra, I forget who by now though
