Old topic, different slant...

Post by PetFanSA » Thu Mar 05, 2020 7:14 am

The Greg-vs-John discussion has come up many times, as has the topic of John singing older Greg songs in the Petra catalogue, etc. But... let's talk solo stuff here. Which Greg SOLO songs can you imagine John singing, and vice versa? I'd love to hear John taking on songs like "I Come Out Fighting", "Backburner", "The Carpenter" or "Set Up to Take a Fall". Some of those songs for that era, although not written by Bob, would not have been out of place on any Dream Team album. As for Greg singing John solo songs, the choice is narrowed down somewhat, but I can imagine him singing "Don't Look Back" or "Inside of You".

Anything from "The River is Rising". I think that album is a masterpiece.

I'd say the song frontline. It's more rock than Greg usually does, also God Only Knows

I think that songs like (Barrier, All I can do, Man like you, Take me to the end, Will you Take me back?, Up to the mountain, Set up to take a fall, On bended knees, No greater love, It's love) could fit in a Petra 80' record!!!

Sorry, if I could not explain properly. What I meant was that there are Greg's songs as a soloist that could have been part of Petra's stuff in the 80s... While Greg was still in the band.
So the question is: which songs do you consider from Greg's solo songs could have been part of Petra CDs in the 80's?

Sorry for muy English!!!

It’s a fair question considering he took JDB with him when he left.
