Post by petrafreak2009 » Tue Jan 13, 2009 10:25 am

Why has Shake by John Schlitt dropped off the Petramerchanise.com map?

They may no longer be in stock. I have an extra copy if anyone needs/wants one.

I think Unfit For Swine beats both Shake and The Grafting. I like the more raw and edgy musical style of Swine much better. I've heard John say that Swine was as much out of his own box as he could possibly go. I wish he would try again to do some alternative, more aggressive type of rock.

And if you really need Shake, why not check eBay?

CRAP!

I should have bought all the stock at the MO show and then doubled the price of them on ebay. Oh well.

You can probably get a copy on half.com or eBay if you need to do so.

Why doesn't Bob just press more copies? Or even contact Word and have them do it?
I'm a little confused by OUT OF PRINT. What exactly does it mean? Was it selling that badly to not make more copies?

"Out of Print" means fair game on torrent sites.

Whoever owns the rights to the music determines if there will be pressings or not, and if the sales of the pressings will be enough to cover the reproduction, sales, shipping and accounting expenses.

John or someone could possibly pay the fee for licensed masters, but the label, the producers, the songwriters, etc, etc all get their cut, which may make it not worth the trouble. The license fees are usually high, paid on the front end, and thus a risky move as it ties up money on something that may never pay off.

Buy used discs and send John a couple of bucks for his ministry to you. That's about all he made on the disks anyway.

Shake is a good disk; glad I got it when I did. 8) You can probably find it on Amazon.com or e-bay. :) A good percentage of music will go out of print sooner or later...Unless you happen to be the Beatles and are still bringing in the bucks for the biz 30+ (probably closer to 40 now) years after the group disbanded.... :P
