I tend to think of eras in terms of who was on the band at the time. So I have two favorite era:
Volz/Hartman/Kelly/Slick/Weaver
and
Schlitt/Hartman/Cates/Lawry/Weaver

The era of 86-94 works for me as well, though I am a huge fan of Petra. Seeing them live in 90,92,94,96 and 04. But I also do enjoy a lot of songs from the early days as well, such as Sally and Come and Join Us, and Storm Comin, and a slew of others.
This Means War! was recommended by a Christian friend, I was not yet a Christian. It was my 1st real Christian music record, and then it helped me give my life to Christ.
So this era will always be important to me cuz of the life changing message I have heard.

"All of the Above" is not a copout. It is for people like myself (REAL Petheads!) who feel that ALL of Petra's music is etraordinary. I love
Petra and
Come and Join Us just as much as I love
On Fire! just as much as I love
Jekyl & Hyde. After all, you yourself said that it was "hard to answer." I'm a REAL Pethead!

I guess I should have been more clear. Apparently my response makes me not a real Petra fan. Picking the entire body of work from Petra is not really picking a specific Petre era. We all obviously like all of what Petra has done or we wouldn't be here. I just think the questions should make us think about an era of Petra that we liked the most or that really sticks out in our mind. (like it was my question) To say all of the above is just too easy.
As far as me not being a real fan goes, I guess I don't know what that means now. I own 27 Petra cd's and both of John's solo albums. I have Washes Whiter Than and Beat the System on LP. I started listening in the early 80's when I was only 7 and fell in love during the height of Greg's era.
