Double Take strings - real or synthesizer?

Do we really need to rehash this topic all over again?? Why don't we bring Pete Orta into the discussion.

Love the new melodies coz it makes them sound more current and not dated, but dislike the too many strings and harmonicas, which drown out the guitars.

Don't take me wrong-I still love the melodies of the original songs but it would unfortunately sound dated if they still maintained them. The change in melodies was inevitable anyway for the remakes.
