Everbody knows that Dave Mustaine and Dave Ellfeson of Megadeth are christians by admission. Ellfeson even said that he is enrolled in a Luthren seminary through his church. My question is where do you draw the line? To be so vocal about your faith and not use your gifts to proclaim the gospel of Christ and spread the message seems to be such a waste!! I am a fan of Megadeth and other secular bands. I also love christian music. Petra owns them all of course! But where do you draw the line? What do you guys think?

Megadeth has some lyrics that are hard to interpret as anything but Christian, really from "Risk" on. Songs like "I'll Be There" and "Prince of Darkness" for example, can be interpreted that way (at least I always have). From "Cryptic Writings" on, I'd say their songs seem to tackle interesting topics from a moral viewpoint consistent with Christianity.

"Promises" off The World Needs a Hero has the lines:

I will meet you in the Next Life, I promise you
Where we can be together, I promise you
I will wait till then in Heaven, I promise you
I promise, I promise

There's so many fighting
To get past the Pearly Gates
But nobody ever wants to die or get saved

Their intentions aren't that good
And I can smell the asphalt
That's their personal road to hell being paved

On The System Has Failed, the song "Shadow of Deth" is simply Psalm 23 spoken over music.

And of course there's the usual metal technique of borrowing biblical imagery to sing about apocalypse, but that's pretty widespread among Christian and non-Christian metal bands.

Risk I can understand. Most fans hate it, and from what I remember reading, the band does, too. I love CW, but it's not thrashy Megadeth, so they probably want to keep the fans happy. I see CW like I Load by Metallica, a truly excellent hard rock album that is underrated because it was such a departure from the band's previous style.
