While I am not a fan of the legalistic wackos who operate this site, they do have a point. We had her come to our church. It was not good.
What was that movie, Chasing Papi? Wasn't there some nudity in that movie she was in?

I remember commenting on this. Guess which one is me!
I still say these guys will never rise to the glory of purgatorio, too much outrage and not enough mocking. Tom in the Box News Network comes kind of close sometimes. This one andthis one were both pretty classic.

I do agree it isn't in the best of taste and showed poor judgment on the part of the people involved. But I sort of wonder if these folks would have said the same thing if it had been a group of MEN dancing around in skimpy clothes. There's a double standard for males and females that is totally unfair and ticks me off big time.
Maybe if there were fewer men who viewed women as objects and more women who would say "no" to being viewed as objects you wouldn't see this sort of thing.
I think that they're being rather vindictive by continuing to post the video after it was pulled from You Tube and Google.

I think that she is Catholic, so she is keeping up with that community well. I don't know her from Eve, but my guess is that the whole Christian music thing is just another market for her.
What makes me sick is that she has the big Christian industry push. She has been sold in the Lifeway stores (which claim to be the upper tier by being discerning), she is loved by Johnny Rivers and that whole radio network machine. It has to be because she makes them money. It isn;t because of what she believes in or what she does for Christ, because there are much more deserving people out there that could use her time slots and exposure.
By the way, I did not think Bride performing without shirts was cool. I did not think Stryper performing with cucumbers stuffed in their pants and Robert shirtless was cool. I did not respect Andre Crouch, who was a major coke-head (that finally got busted) was cool. I didn't think that Leon Patillo and his all female band (which partially lead to his divorce and demise) was cool. Leon's wife is a great lady too.
There has always been this kind of crap in "christian" music. It wasn't just the artists, it has been the people in the label office. Star Song guys were buying hookers, doing drugs, funky things with money. It's a money making machine just like the secular industry is.
We are doing well to find bands or artists that know why they are gifted and their calling for Christ. There are many out there, staying out of trouble. But it seems the industry doesn't care about the ones that aren't, as long as they are profitable.
More power to the sincere indies. Death to the Christian music "industry" and woe to all of the crooked people who manipulated their way to the top of the GMA, artists and "leadership". There is no discernment or balls to do the right thing.

I don't dispute the idea about this not being a good thing for her to do, but they should speak out about the industry as a whole, not single out artists on an individual basis. The industry is a big money making machine and the worldly marketing ploys it uses is a big reason it's so corrupt. There aren't enough people who will speak out and say "no" to the corruption.

appalled
Well, I pretty much agree with you on the shirtless things. As for the cukes? You said it, so I can only assume you believe it, or you heard it mentioned somewhere. Definitely not good if it was true. I made a post on the Stryper forum about it, essentially proposing it as a conspiracy theory. Not too well received I take it. I checked this morning to see if it got any response. I thought perhaps someone else had heard something about it as well and could shed further light.By the way, I did not think Bride performing without shirts was cool. Not so much. It was deleted. I have no idea what kind of firestorm it caused. I guess such things are not open for discussion.

Watch the Japan concert video. There was also an early poster with them. MS was asked about it in an interview. I used to have the audio for it. He did not deny it. He did not skirt the issue either.gman wrote:Well, I pretty much agree with you on the shirtless things. As for the cukes? Well, I see what you mean. Kinda blows away the idea that it's just a large man unit. How about a cup of some kind. Maybe it's a squeeze device to alter his voice. He had to do something to get that girly voice because he doesn't sound like that now.

I looked at the main page of that site and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to laugh my tail off or join in someone's outrage over everything that was reported.
Certainly lifestyle of an artist, expectations of them, etc. is a legitimate discussion. I can't speak for this site specifically, but what many sites do is suggest that an artists' poor choice, or poor witness, equals Christian Music being evil. Popular music is either bad or it is not. Sinful man has nothing to do with it.
Clearly Jaci's choices in the video are not good, but they are not caused by the music.
What bothers me in these situations is the perceived tendency of the Christian music industry to turn a blind eye. If you go back to the cases of Michael English and Nikki Leonti, they made it easy for the industry by voluntarily getting out. But, it has seemed in all cases where the artist is okay with their choice, the industry has refused to tell their moneymakers to get out and come back when they've got things in order.
I have no problem with them operating as a business and making money, but I feel they should maintain a higher standard.
