Petra has the first song on this disc. Kinda cool I guess. Won't be buying it though.

Well, I hesrd that this had been released, so I did a search for it and looked at the track listing. It's kind of a disappointment in my book. First off, if they are looking back to the glory days of hair bands in Christian music, I would think they could have chosen a more recent Petra song. Plus, why does Petra only get one song, but Whitecross gets two?
In my opinion, this should have at the very least been a little longer than just 11 tracks. I would have gone with a double disc or two volumes, and some more serious packaging. I had to chuckle at the inclusion of the Barren Cross song. I realize they were a Star Song band for one album, but they had two great sounding albums with the Elefantes, after they got away from Star Song. The songs on the SS release were good, but the sound was pretty lame. Messiah Prophet, Whitecross, and Bride date back to the Pure Metal records days. I say this collection could be longer because I can probably think of several decent bands from the Star Song/Pure Metal family that are not on it. I guess the focus is on bands that had a decent degree of success and were part of Star Song at some point.
One more point. Whiteheart was not really in the same genre as many of the other bands featured, so why not include an early Newsboys cut. Their early stuff features a lot of guitar/keyboard rock.
The bottom line for me is that I don't find this to be an earth shattering collection.

Love the first line of the description....
"These are the bands that single-handedly kicked the first hole in the Ozone layer…to get closer to Heaven!"
Wow! Brilliant. I'm sold.
I wouldn't even describe Judas Kiss as that hairy. Proggy, for sure, but not hairy. And if we're doing hair, big drums, guitarmony and vocal hysterics, how about some early G(u)ardian, some Rage of Angels, Mastedon, Brighton, Red Sea, X-Sinner, Tamplin...with the pool to draw from, its a travesty to have two of ten be Whitecross.
Sorry, I'm just passionate about hair metal. And bagels.

Totally agree. If they wanted to make a serious collection, they would shell out the bucks to get decent songs from a broader scope of bands. Sales probably wouldn't justify the cost though. If they want to use their own stuff and put out a mediocre collection that makes a few bucks, I guess they can do that. They can't really lose any respect because it's safe to say that at this point they don't have any.
