Heya, Elo...

I'm pretty sure that it is Jeb Bush's wife Columba who is of Hispanic descent. Jeb is the extremely popular governor of Florida, as George W. was the popular governor of Texas. I think their respective relations with latino american communities gave each of them such a good Hispanic vote turnout in their respective elections.

Even more impressive was Jeb Bush's son, George P. Bush speaking at the 2004 Republican convention. Speaking concisely and articulately in english, George P. laid out the case endorsing four more years of the Bush administration. He repeated his case a second time, except this time in flawless SPANISH. It was EXTREMELY impressive and once again, I really believe that it promoted a sense of accessibility to the Bush agenda from the Hispanic standpoint.

I'm about 99.99 percent sure that Laura Bush is NOT hispanic... her maiden name is 'Welch'. A quick google search pulls up this site with her ancestry, though I cannot vouch for the validity or accuracy. Have a super cool weekend!

Blessings,

Ryan - who is ULTRA excited about seeing the Trans-Siberian orchestra tomorrow...

Trans-Siberian orchestra? I'm almost afraid to ask. :P

Welch sounds English to me, although I'm not sure about that either. Sounds like their son has learned some good things from having an americano dad and a Spanish-speaking mama. :)

Shell,

You would like the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. They absolutely rock!!! They do Christmas songs but they are done in neo-classical rock format. They kick butt.

Leave it to Enosh to know who they are.

You're right, being the lunatic I am I probably would like them. Just so long as it's not my rear they're kicking. :D

Trans-Siberian Orchestra...

Post by Historymaker » Mon Nov 15, 2004 2:50 pm

Oh man... oh man... oh MAN!! The concert last night was absolutely amazing, something I will never forget for the rest of my LIFE! The Trans Siberian Orchestra has dealt itself every card as far as a full scale music production. Excellent venue (Gaylord Entertainment Center... a HUGE arena), an AWESOME, ridiculously awesome light show that can possibly be rivaled only by the second Death Star battle, and PHENOMENAL musicianship and showmanship. They maintained the PERFECT balance of staying true to their recordings, harmonic for harmonic, while taking improvisational liberties in VERY tasteful bursts. Sure, it made me want to sell every instrument I own and forever give up on music, but a good night's sleep and a bowl of Cocoa Crispies helped me reconsider.

Good times.
