John Lawry has one solo CD out entitled Media Alert. I think it came out in like 1990 or 1991.

As for what he's doing today...probably waking up, making some coffee and reading the paper.

Among other things.

Somebody a while back said that he was a member of the worship team at their church. So he's still playing, if not performing.

John Lawry...

Post by Historymaker » Thu Dec 02, 2004 12:27 am

We were briefly attending Cool Springs Church in Franklin for awhile and everyone's favorite keyboard player was up there on the B3 tearing it up with the worship team. He might as well have been onstage with Petra as he had always been, because he was head bangin' and groovin' like crazy.

What's really funny is that the piano player at that church is a guy named Bryan who STRONGLY resembles John Lawry. Long, dark hair, similar features, etc. Oh, and EXCELLENT piano player. He was telling me that back in Petra's glory days, people would always be giving him sideways looks and asking for his autograph. One time, an industry big-wig walked up with a friend and introduced Bryan AS John Lawry. Talk about egg on the face.

Anyhoo, that was about a year and a half ago. This past spring, I ran into someone at GMA who said that they were working with John Lawry, or Lawry was producing them, or something of that nature... blah blah blah... I just can't remember who it was! Sorry...

next time I go to USA I`ll look for his CD.... sigh, I pray I can meet him someday. The last time I asked John for him (mmm 3 or 4 years ago lol) he told me he was a producer in Nashville, he told me that I could see that on a website www.onboard.com or something like that 8I was asking him if there was a way I could contact him since I wanted to give him a present and he answered me that).

Johnny doesn't have long hair any more. At least not in some of the pics from GMA (Gospel Music Hall of Fame night) on John's site. He CUT IT, and I will never forgive him for that, hahahahahaha. I hope he's let it grow out since those pictures were taken, he looked good with long hair. 8)

Of course, that's not as bad as Ronny being bald. Elo and I really lost it over that one.

Yep, that was a fun movie. :D I'll have to think of some other funny lines in Pirates to use too.

You know how Elo and I are...We're always losing it. We're never gonna forgive poor Ronny.

I'm fine Artur, I hope you're doing okay. I don't know how you could miss me, I'm here almost every day. LOL. That may have to change a bit when finals come up in a couple of weeks though, :P and then Christmas.

John also produced and played some keys on one of the SonicFlood albums. I'm not sure which one though.

Hmmm, Ronny and Greg Bailey should get together as a bald bass-player duo.

Is this Bryan dude you speak of part-Japanese? I really got a kick out of your [historymaker's] story about Bryan.

Bryan-San?

Post by Historymaker » Tue Dec 07, 2004 5:08 pm

Hey SK... Couldn't tell ya if Bryan is or isn't of Japanese descent, amigo. One, I'm terrible with discerning ethnic origin (I can't tell that Lawry is of Japanese background) and two, someone's racial or ethnic background is of no consequence concerning how I relate or interact with him or her.

<quick soapbox speech...>

WARNING: the following does not recognize nor adhere to the accepted parameters of modern 'political correctedness' as perceived in much of both domestic and international society... READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

In short, I really don't care. Many people don't even recognize or realize that I'm of Hispanic descent and it really doesn't make a difference to me either way. I embrace and appreciate my heritage, but I am not going to go out of my way to make sure everyone else does. I suppose you could call me a Mexican American if that's what floats your boat (or mine... across the Rio Grande... sorry, couldn't resist...). Or Latin American, whatever. I like to call myself simply 'An American'.

</quick soapbox speech that really didn't have a WHOLE lot of relevance to the scope of mine and SK's conversation, but it was fun to say and besides... getting up on a soapbox makes me look and feel taller... except from up here, Shell looks like an oompa-loompa now... okay... stepping down...>

Ryan, you are such a lunatic....

I don't think you can really tell Johnny's part Japanese, and I agree it doesn't really matter. Not all people with dark hair are hispanic or oriental; I have dark hair and Elo would laugh her rear off if I tried to pass myself off as hispanic. :D
