A Matter Of Time is a great song. Its one of my favorites. I also love Falling Up. I cant explain it but thats a awesome song.
Wake Up Call was a good one. Midnight Oil and Underneath the Blood rocked. Praying Man was a concert favorite when they played it. Even when John did his solo concerts, he sang that song.

I will go with that list. All my favorites are on that list. I think No doubt is an underrated album..I think its better then God fixation. 10 Back To the Street - production is mediocre, as is some of the songwriting, as they really didn't find their groove w/ the Elefantes yet, but it sounds decent enough and I liked it growing up so that still counts.
9 Captured In Time & Space - one of my favorites back in the day; I think it still stands as one of the best live recordings ever. They really captured, pardon the pun, the feel of the event and the feel of that era as well.
8 Wake Up Call - half of it is great, half is just decent. But the good parts do outweigh the bad. I like Bannister's emphasis on live instrumentation, but there are too many middle-of-the-road moments to push this one any higher on the list.
7 Not of This World - A bit heavy on the keys, but classic nonetheless. "Bema Seat" rocks, "Grave Robber," "God Pleaser," and the title track are all top notch. The keys do fit w/ the other-worldliness atmosphere of the project, though. This one is dead center of the middle of the best of the Volz years, imo.
6 Unseen Power - parts of it are a bit forced, granted (see "Secret Weapon"), but it still sounds great for the most part. I actually like "Hey World" on this one a lot - it's a fantastic pro-life (all life, not just anti-abortion) song with some soaring vocal work by John. The Backstage Pass video that accompanied this one was also the best long-form video Petra ever released.
5 More Power To Ya - This is the best album of the Volz era (best, though not my personal favorite). Stands toe-to-toe with the mainstream arena rock albums of the early 80's. Nuff said.
4 Beat the System - My favorite of the Volz albums. I miss the artwork on the cover, but great songs like "Clean," "Adonai," "It Is Finished," and, well, heck, the whole thing just rocks. And "God Gave Rock & Roll To You" was a friendly slug to the gut of all of the rock-music-is-from-Satan pastors of that era.
3 On Fire! - It's This Means War! on steroids. Petra never rocked harder and I couldn't turn it up loud enough. Of the three best albums, critically speaking, that Petra released, this is the second of the three. "Council of the Holy" is one of Bob's best lyrics - he uses metaphor and subtlety extremely well in this song about the Bible that never says the word "Bible."
2 This Means War! - Man, I wore out this tape growing up. That opening drum solo just devastated me. Schlitt, Hartman, and J&Dino meshed here perfectly for the first time and though the edge that On Fire! had was quite welcome there's no complaining about TMW!'s blend of keys and guitar from me. "Get On Your Knees..." is my all-time favorite Petra song.

They dominated the CCM Readers awards w/ this project (deservedly so) and seeing "Beyond Belief" up for Song of the Year at the Doves - in an era where rock was still not a favorite child of the GMA) was just awesome.
