Brent,

I think that might be a little inaccurate. Aerosmith just finished up the sold out "Honkin' On Bobo Tour" which was 45 dates and entirely played in Sport arenas which average in capacity of 17,000-24,000. Every show but 2 were sold out. Maybe these #'s were from a previous tour or something. The source of this info was melodicrock.com

No. PollStar is the defacto standard reporting organization for the industry, just as Neilson is for Sound Scan CD sales.

Those are averages for the tours this year. Van Halen played to more than 9,000 people in OKC as well. I was there. You also have to remember that the total arena capacity is never used on any tour and these averages reflect only seats sold out of those tickets made available. There are usually 10-15% held aside for promotions and spiffs for industry folks.

1. Pollstar is being investigated by the federal government and will probably have criminal charges brought against them for receiving money under the table from record companies and also boosting or lowering #'s to the public so stocks would go up/down in these companies.
2. I saw Aerosmith in 2 arenas on this tour and they both were filled to capacity, and i know my hometown arena seating for concerts is 21,345, but I'm not sure about the other one in San Antiono, but I'm pretty sure it's about the same size, and 15% of that is only 3,200, so it would actually be what 18,100, and that is WAY ABOVE your #'s. Once again melodicrock.com said all but 2 shows were sold out, and all the venues they played in were similar in size. I think pollstar is misinforming you as everyone else. When I saw Van Halen in Sept. they did have some of the seats blocked off, and I would say there were 10,000 there that night.

P.S. I heard somewhere where Metallica was sueing Pollstar and also Soundscan for inaccurate #s reading, but I didn't hear the full story, so i'm not really too sure about it.
