New stuff at the Guide to Petra

Post by Michael » Thu Dec 09, 2004 12:29 pm

I've had a few minutes here and there over the past few weeks to make some tweaks to the Guide, and I thought you guys would be interested.

1. Right under the "Petra News" section at the top of the main page, there is a set of links to past news items that have appeared in that spot... but there is also a list of links to "Petra IN the news" articles... places that I've found newspaper articles & etc. about Petra (okay, so sometimes YOU guys have found them and I just posted them, but I find a few, anyway!) There are a couple of links to articles about Petra's recent shows in India.

2. I've posted some new pictures sent in to me by a couple of people... there is one pic of Greg Bailey and Paul Simmons seeing the sights in Shillong, India, and there is a whole page of pictures sent to me by John Slick. These are vintage early 80's pictures of the "More Power To Ya" team on tour. And... wonder of wonders! One of the pictures has Bob's wife Kim in it! I thought she was a teenager who had come to hear Petra play! hehe

3. I've added Inpop's news release about JAH to the bottom of the page, just for fun. As Inpop generates new news releases like this one for upcoming projects, I'll keep that updated.

4. By the way... as RSS usage becomes more prevalent, don't forget that a LOT of the content from the Guide is available via RSS. Just look for the little orange links all over the site. If you use My Yahoo! you can add the RSS component to your My Yahoo! site and subscribe to them there, so you get GuideToPetra.com headlines right in your My Yahoo!

You can find all of this stuff right on the main page of the Guide: A Guide to Petra

Hey MJ...You haven't been here for a few day. Those are cool pics...Hey, Louie has dark hair in the pics John Slick sent you, LOL. After seeing him with blond hair for so long, I forget sometimes he's not a natural blond. :)

Suggestion for GTP Home Page

Post by Michael » Thu Dec 09, 2004 4:27 pm

That's a good idea... I'll have to look at that! Strangely enough, the biggest hurdle to doing that is the graphic design part (the white boxes with the black borders). I'll have to make one up with "Misheard Lyrics" or something on it, so it will match the others.

Actually, I've been seriously considering a major redesign. This one's been up there quite a while, and to be honest there's more that I would like to include on the main page so it can be more "alive" and change more often as stuff on the site changes. At the same time, you have to avoid getting crowded with things. So I'm mulling it over as I get time to think about it.

Great suggestion, though! I'll put that on my mental list of things to work in there.
