New CD Thread
Hi All,
Just thought we would start a thread on new cd's we've purchased and would reccomend and why.
Back in November I saw Newsboys and one of the opening bands was Me in Motion. I thought they were terriffic and they had for sale their latest CD, which just hit stores.
It reminds me of Simple Plan (whom I also like), so its definetely Pop/roc, but with a strong message. Seventh Day Slumber wals also there promoting a new P&W CD which I really need to go look for.

Re: New CD Thread
I'm so excited that The Choir has a new album coming out. They have some pre-production vids on their Facebook. They may title the album "...And They Can't Get Up."
Which is neat. Considering the previous one was entitled "O How the Mighty Have Fallen."
I predict triple platinum.

It's been awhile since I regularly purchased CD's, but here's 2 recent ones...Skillet and Selena Gomez. (How about that for a combination).

I too am looking forward to the Skillet CD. Sounds a bit Linkin Park-ish, but that is ok.
Coheed and Cambria....I like listening to them.
Steven Wilson is one of the most talented prog rock guys around today. I like just about everything he touches: http://www.swhq.co.uk/index.cfm
I love these gals: http://www.heart-music.com/
If they were close, I would go see this show: http://www.dreamtheater.net/
Sweet Comfort has a new one coming... YEAH!

Re: New CD Thread
If we're talking about Awake, it's pretty awful. They've been going downhill since Collide. Their scene image also drives me nuts.
The new FIF DVD entitled The Rise and Fall of Five Iron Frenzy was just released. It's got three live concerts on it, plus over 3 hours of documentary footage and other goodies. I haven't finished it yet, but it's awesome.

Re: New CD Thread
The new Skillet CD is pretty medicore for them. John Cooper said in an interview that all these songs are throw aways(b-sides) from the previous 3 albums, They were rushed into the studio by record execs is my theory.

Re: New CD Thread
Not to mention, the album is half hard rock, half pop punk. It's not a very good mix. One of the few bright spots is the vocals of the new drummer.executioner wrote:The new Skillet CD is pretty medicore for them. Re: New CD Thread
I recently bought the new album by Fair (www.fairforever.com). Very enjoyable.
And also a couple of CDs from the Canadian band Newworldson (www.newworldson.com). These guys are excellent musicians.

Yes, Fair is an excellent band. I'm envious of Aaron Sprinkle's ridiculous talents.

Fireflight is also one group that has a couple of good CDs out; They also put on a great live show.

Re: New CD Thread
I went to look and see and found nothing very interesting. It seems all their songs(on both) just repeats itself and the one guy in Newworldson sounds flat.p-freak wrote:I recently bought the new album by Fair (http://www.fairforever.com). Very enjoyable.

Re: New CD Thread
I didn't care much for Fireflight's second CD. It has maybe two good songs and the lead singer just isn't all that memorable. Not that she can't sing, she just doesn't have a very interesting voice to listen to, imo. To me, they sound like every other Christian band in that genre (i.e. Skillet, Pillar, Kutless, Thousand Foot Krutch, etc.) except with a girl singer.

Re: New CD Thread
Pillar and Kutless are medicore at best; They just seem to rehash the same songs over and over. TFK has a nice sound, but not really into the lead singer that much. Fireflight guitar and bass work is far superior to any of the groups you listed. Go see their show you will be totally impressed and shocked. I didn't really like them until I saw them at a festival 3 yrs back and was sold. I like their first and third albums the best, the second(which you mentioned) is their weakest.
