So did you hear that Jennifer Knapp is a lesbian. What do you think? Another CHRISTIAN singer (Ray Boltz is the other) that has come out and announced that they are gay. Can you be gay or lesbian and still claim to be a follower of christ??

The Bible is pretty clear about homosexuality, but do you have a link to this information? Where did you hear this? I'm not saying it isn't something that should be addressed or that you don't know what you're talking about, but you should be cautious about confirming stuff like this.

A question I have is, could this be a result of churches not preaching the BIBLE any more, not preaching the truth, and not condemning people and causing them to take a good long hard look at their lives and how they live??

This is nothing. We have had gays, drug addicts, alcoholics, child molesters, thieves, wife beaters, blasphemers, heretics and more in the forefront of CCM for decades. It's ok. We are to love one another. We are all sinners. We must forgive and forget. Puh-lease. It's all about duh-money.

Okay, I know I've said this sort of thing before...But anyone who claims to be a follower of Jesus should be living that way, it doesn't just apply to Christian musicians. There's plenty of garbage going on that you don't hear about because it doesn't get press coverage like the music industry does.

I do agree with the idea that the people blatantly living that way and claiming to be Christians should be called on it though, and (for the most part) they're not. We wouldn't want to be narrow-minded or unloving or intolerant or judgmental now would we (and that's sarcasm just in case you can't tell).

What a bunch of hooey. There is a double standard, it's perfectly acceptable for the people living that way to hide behind freedom of speech and/or religion or freedom of whatever, but it's not okay for Christians to have freedom of speech. They want for themselves what they don't want to allow for others, and I think that gets me more than anything. I have a BIG problem with double standards.

If you only consider the CCM musicians as musicians and not spiritual leaders, then there is no issue for me most of the time. They are people working out their salvation just like us. They have their hang-ups. But they are put up on a pedastal and idolized, worshiped and revered. They are musicans, nothing more. They are not ministers most of the time. Whatever they say, people soak in. It is dangerous! Now we have Dale Thompson preaching Universalism. Nutty. I take every word of every performer with a grain of salt. I have known and experienced too many lost people in the CCM market.

The commerce of CCM is not a church ordained and supported ministry, with educated people under biblical church leadership with discipline. It is a business. It is about the green.

There is a new branch of Christian music and Christian radio and Christian Church. It is gay oriented. There are gay Christian music videos, CDs, books, etc to support it. Who is behind it? You would be freaked out (I wasn't) if you knew.

I know that's something that happens when you have a job where you're having to deal with the public a lot, but I think a big contributing factor to CCM being so corrupt, even if that isn't all there is to it, is the public's tendency to think these folks can do no wrong. Christian musicians probably (at least initially, although it might change later) don't ask for public worship, and the Bible warns us about idols.

Oh, and could you give me some links to what you said about the new gay-oriented church branch for me to check out? I'm curious, and I haven't really researched that, although I was aware there were churches that accepted gays still in that lifestyle.

They have their own TV shows on the gay network. I have seen one of the shows on a Christian sat company as well. I have to go to my daughter's awards thing at school. When I get back I will......

FWIW, I think that Knapp has pretty clearly stated that this new album is not aimed at a Christian audience. I'm not sure she even considers herself part of CCM anymore.

I did read the article, and she sounded like one confused lady. It's sad really. I honestly don't understand how she can consider herself a Christian. I don't say that to put her down or be judgmental, I'm honestly puzzled. I don't see how the Bible could be any clearer.
